SANFORD, Maine, Sept. 27, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Rubb Building Systems has further solidified its place as a player in the sport facility building market after engineering, fabricating and erecting a 125' x 226' x 19' Rubb BVE to house indoor tennis for the James River Country Club in Newport News, VA.

Rubb is well known throughout the UK for providing indoor training facilities for Premier League Football clubs such as Newcastle United, Sunderland AFC and West Bromwich Albion. Rubb has also provided numerous multi-purpose sport facilities throughout the US and UK most notably an indoor volleyball facility utilized during the 2012 London Olympics. The James River tennis facility is Rubb's initial US based tennis facility.

The 28,000 sq ft facility has 19ft sidewalls and a mid-court apex height of 37 ft to accommodate "lobbing". Rubb also provided a "reversed" LED lighting system which reflects the light off the white PVC cladding to create a non-glare environment which is greatly appreciated by the players. During the day the PVC roof is significantly translucent allowing plentiful natural daylight creating an atmosphere similar to outdoor tennis.

The Rubb structure is equipped with USTA approved blue tennis courts with green boundary areas replicating tournament tennis facilities. Local colleges and high schools have been utilizing the facility for practices and matches when there is inclement weather.

Connected to the tennis building is an annex building which provides space for the pro-shop, offices, locker rooms along with an observation deck overlooking the courts for fan attendance or post match relaxation.

Equipped with a climate control system James River has been able to expand its tennis program to year round play and host various social events and gatherings year round.
