Falcon View Connections Academy is committed to offering a high-quality learning option to students who need a more personalized, flexible academic approach.
WABASHA, Minn. (PRWEB) March 10, 2020
Enrollment for Falcon View Connections Academy (FVCA), a tuition-free, full-time public virtual school has officially opened for the 2020-21 school year. Free information sessions will be offered to help interested families learn more about virtual school and the benefits of an online learning environment.
Authorized by the Wabasha-Kellogg School District to begin operations in the 2019-20 school year, Falcon View Connections Academy offers students throughout Minnesota an individualized approach to K-12 education in a safe, supportive online learning environment. Looking ahead to its second year, Falcon View Connections Academy will expand to serve students in the 11th and 12th grades, which will enable Stephanie Wessel’s daughter Kathryn to continue at Falcon View Connections Academy through graduation.
“Five years ago, my daughter Kathryn was diagnosed with Autism. We made the decision to enroll her in Falcon View Connections Academy because the sensory overload in a traditional classroom setting made it impossible for her to learn,” Stephanie Wessel said. “Falcon View Connections Academy gives her the ability to learn from home without the distractions. At the same time, she has access to teachers who are always available to help when she needs it.”
Learning from home or anywhere there is an Internet connection, students work closely with Minnesota-certified teachers specially trained in online instruction. Teachers develop individualized learning plans that help to nurture each student’s strengths while providing additional support in areas of need. The curriculum, from the nationally recognized, award-winning Connections Academy® program, meets rigorous state education standards, and will include core online classes as well as engaging electives, honors and AP courses, and Career Technical Education (CTE) classes. At Falcon View Connections Academy, parents and caregivers are considered “Learning Coaches” as they play a very active role in their child’s education and work closely with the teachers to monitor student participation and progress.
Students also benefit from real-time feedback and customized virtual schedules, ensuring each student can learn in a way that’s best-suited for them. Outside of schoolwork, students make friends and socialize through numerous online clubs and activities and during in-person field trips and school events. Falcon View Connections Academy students are also eligible to participate in extra-curricular activities at their local public school district including sports, music and theater.
“Falcon View Connections Academy is committed to offering a high-quality learning option to students who need a more personalized, flexible academic approach,” said Falcon View Connections Academy Principal Anne Wasmund. “Our faculty and staff have enjoyed working with our students and their families and look forward to building on the success of our school’s inaugural year."
Falcon View Connections Academy is hosting free, in-person and online information sessions for interested families to learn more about virtual education and how teachers support the students. During the information sessions, families will also have an opportunity to learn about the online public school’s curriculum and interact with school representatives and other parents. A complete schedule of events with dates and locations is available.
