Author Mary Morony’s the Apron Strings Trilogy was inspired by the “ubiquity of drama in all families.” In the last book of the trilogy titled “If It Ain’t One Thing . . .” (published by Archway Publishing), Morony touches on social issues and puts a “big dollop of generational misunderstanding to the mix.”

The Apron Strings Trilogy follows the Mackey family over a 50-year period starting in the late 1950s. The four children, two parents and Ethel the family maid struggle with a myriad of problems from racism, to alcoholism to child abuse to mention just a few. By the time they get to the next generation in “If It Ain’t One Thing…” it is a wonder they are still speaking, but they are if barely and are planning a family wedding over Christmas to bring them all together.
“The series doesn’t pull punches and makes no apologies as it takes aim at family foibles. The characters are three dimensional and believable. Their problems are relatable and they are a good fun read,” says Morony on what makes her books distinct.
Morony hopes that with whatever situation they can relate with in the book, readers may realize that they are not alone. “We all have issues and there is hope, as the song goes, all you need is love,” she concludes.
