BISMARCK, N.D., Sept. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- According to Advanced IPM, rodents cause roughly $20 billion in damage to homes, businesses, and agriculture in the United States every year. Rodents are ranked as the most common pest found in storage areas. Putting away summer gear in preparation for Fall could result in costly rodent damage if the right preventative measures aren't taken, warns pest control expert and CEO/Founder of EarthKind®, Kari Warberg Block.
"Fall is here, which means rodent season is, too. As the temperature drops, rodents begin making their way into storage areas, whether it be in storage units, garages, sheds, basements or in RVs, boats or camping gear, these are ideal spots for rodents to keep warm, nest and rapidly breed all winter long," notes Warberg Block.
Rodent infestations can be very upsetting, destructive and even dangerous, explains Warberg Block, "Rodents often carry diseases, spreading pathogens and bacteria as they gnaw through furniture, wood, storage boxes, and electrical wiring. That means the gear you put away in the Fall may not be in the same condition when you take it back out next summer. Most storage units have no legal obligation to cover rodent infestations or account for the damage caused, so understanding the warning signs and taking preventative measures are crucial."
Warberg Block advises looking for signs of infestations including gnaw marks on storage containers, boxes, and wood items. These are key indicators that rodents have been looking for food or sharpening their teeth. Be on the lookout for nests or piles of shredded materials hidden in sheltered spots, like behind appliances and under cabinets or dressers, and identifying the type of tracks that are found in dust on and around your items. Mice have the smallest feet, while rats will drag their tails; observing these tracks will help identify the infestation type at hand.
As for preventative measures, Warberg Block created EarthKind's Fresh Cab® Botanical Rodent repellent pouch as the solution to the costly rodent damage she experienced on her own farm. Protecting farms and families since 1995, Fresh Cab® Botanical Rodent Repellent is designed for enclosed, uninhabited areas such as RV's, sheds, attics, storage areas, stored vehicles and in farm vehicles and equipment. Made with absolutely no harmful chemicals or lethal baits, Fresh Cab® is infused with essential oils and fiber ingredients, the majority of which are grown on family farms exclusively in the USA. Its patented, biodegradable pouch delivers a long-lasting, slow release of proven essential oils that quickly repel rodents from treated areas, functioning to reliably prevent re-infestations for up to three months.
With the Farmers' Almanac forecasting "bitterly cold winter conditions," calling for "another freezing, frigid, and frosty winter for two-thirds of the country," Warberg Block predicts that "A pest-filled winter is in sight as more rodents will be moving indoors to seek shelter. Staying ahead of the game is imperative. Take action before infestations and real damage is caused to our expensive summer gear."
Fresh Cab® maintains 4.5 out of 5 stars from over 1,200 independent, third-party verified reviews and is federally registered by the U.S. EPA for use in all 50 states and District of Columbia.
