The Smarter Grants Summit (presented by Federal Grants Training) will be held in San Antonio, Texas, on January 14-16, 2020. This training conference for grants management professionals will discuss the three leading concerns for managing Federal grants and subawards in 2020 and beyond.
SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Federal Grants Training will present the Smarter Grants Summit on January 14-16, 2020, in San Antonio, Texas, at the Hilton Palacio del Rio on the River Walk. The Smarter Grants Summit will discuss grants compliance, funding source diversification, and sound financial management, for recipients and subrecipients of Federal grants and cooperative agreements. The training is intended for grants management professionals from different backgrounds and organizations, including nonprofits, higher education, hospitals, tribal entities, and state and local governments. Registration is currently open on the conference website: http://www.federalgrantstraining.com.
Attendees at the Smarter Grants Summit will learn about three important topics affecting grants management in 2020: compliance with Federal grants regulations, fiscal management of grant funds, and strategies for accessing new funding streams. The conference program is anchored in compliance training focused on the requirements of the Office of Management and Budget's Uniform Grants Guidance, which is also known as the OMB Super Circular, the Uniform Guidance, and the UGG. The OMB is currently updating the Uniform Guidance, and the Smarter Grants Summit will discuss these changes.
However, conference workshops will cover more than just compliance with the Uniform Grants Guidance. Attendees at the Smarter Grants Summit will also learn about fiscal management best practices for grant-funded entities. Workshops include discussions of internal controls, fraud prevention, and direct and indirect costs. In addition, the Smarter Grants Summit will feature sessions exploring how a grant-funded organization can broaden its funding base and lessen dependence on Federal grants. These additional topics help set the Smarter Grants Summit apart from other conferences.
With these expanded topics, the Smarter Grants Summit is taking a different approach than many grants management training events, which primarily discuss compliance. "The conference represents a unique opportunity for grants professionals to look at effective grants management as more than just compliance," according to Brian Tipton, one of the featured speakers and an authority on Federal grants management. Tipton continued, "The name reflects the approach being taken, which is more interdisciplinary. Attendees will learn about compliance with the Uniform Guidance or Super Circular, but they will also learn about important legal, accounting, and fundraising topics, all contributing to effective grants management."
Conference registration is now open online. A discounted, early bird rate is available through December 6, 2019. Discounted hotel room rates are also available at the conference hotel, the Hilton Palacio del Rio.
