Feldco Windows, Siding & Doors Announces 2018 Scholarship Recipients
Des Plaines, IL (PRWEB) February 12, 2018 -- Feldco Windows, Siding and Doors is excited to announce the winners of its 2018 scholarship contest. Current or prospective college students were eligible for the $1,000 scholarship which challenged them to answer the question “How has your family contributed to who you are today?”
Feldco awarded two winners who best exemplified Feldco’s family values in their essays. Sydney Kunkel of Lexington, IL and Dean Farmer of Goshen, KY were chosen from the 1,300 applicants nationwide.
Sydney is excited to be entering her freshman year in the fall of 2018 at Loras College located in Dubuque, Iowa. At Loras, Sydney will continue to play softball and major in biology with the hopes of becoming a dentist. Sydney’s portrayal of how each of her family members shaped her life impressed the judges. “Overall, the Feldco scholarship application was a good experience,” said Sydney. “It was easy to apply and I enjoyed writing on this topic.”
Dean will also be a freshman this coming fall and will pursue studies in international politics. Having applied to several schools, Dean is currently deciding which option best suites his academic and career goals. The Feldco Scholarship Committee was inspired by Dean’s passionate narrative of his family history and how each generation has guided his life. In his reflection on the Feldco scholarship, Dean states, “It was interesting to write such a meaningful essay. This topic made me think about how much my entire family has impacted my life.”
Feldco places a great emphasis on education and community outreach. From time and product donated to Habitat for Humanity and scholarships such as these, Feldco is committed to giving back. The scholarship committee thoroughly enjoyed reviewing all of the applications. Patti Freko, Vice President of Marketing, stated “We had a large pool of outstanding applicants for these scholarships. Those written by Sydney and Dean really stood out and we’re thrilled to help them as they pursue their higher education.”
