TAIPEI CITY, Taiwan, Feb. 12, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Today, Fennec launched its eponymous product, Fennec Watch One, a smartwatch designed for kids (aged 8-12 years old) with features that give them independence. It is now available on Kickstarter starting at $109 USD.
The Fennec Watch One provides the essentials of a smartphone, without apps that can be time-consuming and potentially unsafe for kids. It comes equipped with the Fennec Messenger app, an instant messaging system that's fun and safe for family and friends. It is available for iOS and Android. The watch has a SIM card slot and a built-in speaker and rotating camera to take or make voice or video calls.
"Most parents didn't grow up with smartphones. But these have become part of a child's social ecosystem and caregivers can be understandably nervous about what their kids are exposed to, especially via apps like Snapchat and Instagram," said founder and CEO Stephen Tseng. "But as much as they want to keep their kids safe on the internet and on their phone, parents don't also want to limit life experiences and independence. Hearing this from friends and family, we took on the challenge and came up with Fennec One."
Fennec Messenger acts as a safe network for kids so strangers won't be able to friend or talk to them unless they are approved by their parents through the app. Parents can also choose from a variety of flexible management options such as "usage control" which manages how much time kids spend texting or playing games. It also
Parents and kids can set up event reminders and the watch will send an alert and/or vibrate. Kids can also listen to music on the go by connecting a Bluetooth headset, and play games.
"Fennec One has been a project we've been working hard on for the past year and we're hoping it can help parents and their children as they navigate through changes in technology. We're finally proud to present Fennec One to the world!" said Tseng.
Fennec One is currently available on Kickstarter with an estimated delivery date of Jun 2020. Media wishing to interview their personnel should contact PR agent, Jessica Sanchez at [email protected].
