FGA Applauds Texas Legislature for Passing Election Reforms that Make it Easy to Vote and Hard to Cheat
FGA applauds Governor Abbott's decision to pass Senate Bill 1 into law. His decision to further secure the Texas election process will protect the voices of all Texas voters.
NAPLES, Fla., Sept. 7, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On Tuesday, the Texas Legislature passed Senate Bill 1, Texas's commonsense election reform legislation, and sent it to Governor Abbott's desk to be signed. The legislation implements a series of reforms that further secure election processes across the state.
These reforms aim to make it easy to vote and hard to cheat by providing greater security and transparency to the election process. The Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA) praises Governor Abbott for his support of safeguarding Texas elections by signing this legislation into law.
Some of the reforms included in this bill are:
- Secure voting by mail with new ID requirements
- Regular verification of voter registration rolls
- Livestream of ballot activities
- Defined absentee ballot return process and return deadlines
- Ballot curing deadlines
- Ban of mass absentee ballot solicitation
