Financing for Development Corp. (F4D) Announces Board of Directors
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 18, 2014 -- Financing for Development Corp. (F4D), a US-based 501(c)(3) not-for-profit focused on innovative financing for international development, has announced the first cohort of its Board of Directors. Membership includes six Directors: Mr. John Skibiak of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition, Mr. Rodney Bent of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Mr. Pape Gaye of IntraHealth International, Mr. John Simon of Total Impact Advisors, Mr. Aron Betru of Financing for Development, and Mr. Kevin Starace of Financing for Development. Mr. Skibiak will serve as Chairman of the Board for a one-year term.
F4D was incorporated in late 2012 to explore innovative financing solutions for international development. F4D evaluates, facilitates, and advocates for innovative financing techniques to make donor and domestic funding more predictable and efficient. Through the services and strategies executed by F4D and the initiatives it supports, F4D empowers developing countries with proven tools to increase the return on global health investments.
Long-term, F4D's vision is to increase knowledge around access to finance and private capital in the most underserved communities; transfer that knowledge to the private sector; and, in doing so, bolster private sector co-investment in international development.
F4D’s Board of Directors has been built through close consultation with partner organizations, with a focus on experience in development finance, in-country program management, cross-sector partnerships, new ventures, and high-level advocacy. All six members selected are considered pre-eminent within their chosen field, are leaders of their respective organizations, and will serve as well-informed advisors as F4D works to develop and support new programs in development finance.
Mr. John Skibiak currently serves as the Director of the Reproductive Health Supplies Coalition (RHSC). Previously, he served for over 25 years in the development field, primarily managing, directing, and leading reproductive health programs in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
Mr. Rodney Bent currently serves as a Senior Executive Advisor with the Millennium Challenge Corporation. Previously, he was CEO of Millennium Challenge Corporation and served in senior positions within the UN Secretary-General’s office in Washington, DC, the U.S. Department of State, the Office of Management and Budget, Booz Allen Hamilton, and on Capitol Hill.
Mr. Pape Gaye currently serves as President and CEO of IntraHealth International. Previously, he served with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and spent over three decades working with frontline health workers.
Mr. John Simon currently serves as a Founding Partner of Total Impact Advisors. Previously, he served in many distinguished posts within the U.S. federal government, including U.S. Ambassador to the African Union, Executive Vice President of OPIC, and Special Assistant to the President at the National Security Council.
Mr. Aron Betru currently serves as CEO of Financing for Development. Previously, he served at the United Nations Foundation, Dalberg Global Development Advisors, McKinsey & Co., and Goldman Sachs.
Mr. Kevin Starace currently serves as Chief Development Officer of Financing for Development. Previously, he served for more than a decade at the United Nations Foundation, sat on the Board of the Global Fund, and acted as Vice Chair of the Roll Back Malaria Board.
As the governing body with legal and fiduciary authority over F4D, the Board has already convened two meetings in 2014. Going forward, it is anticipated that F4D will add one additional, independent Director to its Board.
