Second Time to Receive Women’s Business Enterprise Award

"Being a part of the Council is truly a dream-come-true in collaborating with other like-minded professionals, as we are in business for ourselves, but not by ourselves." Renee Gilmore, President, Firemans Paving Contractors

Firemans Paving Contractors is pleased to announce that the Women’s Business Council – Southwest (WBCS) named Firemans Paving Contractors the Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) of the Year for a second time. This award recognizes a woman-owned business that exemplifies outstanding business acumen, industry leadership, community service, and a commitment to doing business with fellow WBEs. The 2020 WBCS award was unveiled at the annual Parade of Stars Awards Gala in Dallas, Texas.

Renee Gilmore, Firemans Paving Contractors President said, “We are humbled and honored to be nominated, let alone receive this great award! Being recognized as the 2018 and now 2020 WBE of the Year is confirmation that we must be doing something right! It is a pleasure to work with members of the Council, Sustaining Corporate members and fellow WBEs. Being a part of the Council is truly a dream-come-true in collaborating with other like-minded professionals, as we are in business for ourselves, but not by ourselves.”

Led by President Renee Gilmore, Firemans Paving Contractors attained their WBENC certification in June 2016, and has been actively involved in WBCS ever since. WBENC certification verifies that the business is owned and run by a woman. Being in an industry that experiences high turnover, Firemans Paving retains employees in a market that is currently experiencing labor shortages. In addition, the firm has long-lasting business relationships with vendors and an 80+% customer retention rate. This past year Firemans Paving experienced more than 30% growth and projects it will continue that momentum in the years to come.

Firemans Paving Contractors is a full-service paving and parking lot maintenance company. Their successful business model is based upon the Fireman’s “Code of Honor” which motivates the company employees to achieve outstanding results as they deal with clients, local communities, and each other.

“Congratulations to Firemans Paving Contractors for winning one of our highest awards, WBE of the Year,” said Debbie Hurst, President and CEO of the Women’s Business Council – Southwest. “Our award winners are those who go above and beyond to support the Council and the mission of growing women-owned businesses, and I cannot wait to see how Firemans Paving continues to grow in the future.”
