SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 26, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For almost 30 years, Firstmark Credit Union has been designing, printing and distributing free academic planners to educators across San Antonio. The planners have become so popular with teachers that Firstmark starts receiving requests for them weeks before the start of the school year. To meet teacher requests, Firstmark will hold a curbside pick-up event on Friday, Aug. 28 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at its corporate headquarters to distribute this year's academic planners.
This year, back-to-school looks different, and so does Firstmark's academic planner. The planner includes a new cover design that highlights teachers' unique role in shaping all professions. Firstmark also added a list of virtual training resources and field trips to support professional development and curriculum enrichment. The popular sticker sheets will not be placed inside this year's planner but instead will be available at upcoming back-to-school events like Firstmark's Teacher Fest. Look for event details on Firstmark's Facebook page: facebook.com/FirstmarkCU/.
This past spring, Firstmark donated more than 100,000 bags to local schools for classroom assignments and student packaged meals. Because of the high demand for additional bags, Firstmark will donate an additional 100,000 meal bags at Friday's curbside event.
"Teachers have shown tremendous resolve to stay connected to the students and families they serve, and we are inspired by their dedication," said Nathanael Tarwasokono, president and CEO of Firstmark Credit Union. "We are proud to support teachers as they prepare for a new school year."
Since 1932, Firstmark has championed the education community. The credit union offers educator discounts and grants, scholarships for students and a back-to-school, zero percent classroom loan. To learn more about Firstmark's efforts, visit firstmarkcu.org.
