MALVERN, Pa., March 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Fitness Machine Technicians, specialists in the maintenance and repair of exercise equipment for fitness centers, corporate gyms, universities, hotels, apartment buildings and private residences, announced it has signed its 25th franchisee, set to open this spring in Boston.

Prior to launching Fitness Machine Technicians, Powers spent 20 years in the exercise industry – owning gyms, selling corporate fitness, and owning fitness retail stores. When he owned gyms, he hated when members would press him about a broken piece of equipment.
"I couldn't stand being the owner and a customer coming up to me and saying, 'Don, when is that treadmill going to be fixed?' and me trying to get a service company on the phone," said Powers.
The landscape was, and still is, dominated by do-it-all mom-and-pop service providers, who not only took jobs to repair exercise machines, but washers and dryers, refrigerators, and lawn mowers, too.
Powers saw an opportunity so he bought a side business fixing treadmills, ellipticals, etc. Long story short, after selling his stores and gyms, the service business took off.
After building Fitness Machine Technicians, he decided to take his blueprint and franchise the model across the country.
"I started slowly so I could test the franchise concept," said Powers. "After signing two franchisees near our headquarters and learning from the experience, I announced the concept and we began selling last spring. It's a tremendous feeling to see other entrepreneurs become part of our team, and have the same passion and excitement I have."
In the past 12 months, Fitness Machine Technicians has signed 20 franchisees representing 42 territories.
"We are generating a ton of interest from the franchise community," added Powers. "We hope to sign our 50th franchisee by year end."
