FlexJobs' 9th annual survey of over 8,000 professionals uncovered key findings about the impact and importance of work flexibility among the general public:
- Since 2013, work-life balance, family, time savings, and commute stress have been the top four reported reasons people seek flexible work.
- Behind salary (76%), work-life balance (73%) and flexible work options (72%) are the primary factors people consider when evaluating job prospects -- well ahead of other factors such as health insurance (39%), vacation time (34%) and 401k/retirement benefits (28%).
- 79% say they would be more loyal to their employer if they had flexible work options
- Nearly 1 in 3 (29%) would consider a 10 or 20% cut in pay for the option to work from home
- 60% have left or considered leaving a job because it did not offer flexibility
- 96% think they would be more productive or as productive working in a home office versus the traditional office
- Many different groups of people benefit from and value work flexibility, such as working parents, entrepreneurs, introverts, travelers/digital nomads, military spouses, caregivers, those living in rural areas, people with chronic health conditions, pet lovers, semi-retirees, and environmentalists
