BOULDER, Colo., May 11, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ To help connect job seekers to remote-friendly freelance job opportunities during the coronavirus pandemic, FlexJobs has analyzed its database to determine the top 25 companies that posted the most number of remote freelance jobs during the last two months. Specifically, this list is based on an analysis of over 54,000 companies and their remote freelance job posting histories in the FlexJobs database between March 1, 2020 and April 30, 2020. A remote freelance job refers to a freelance job that can be done either fully or partially from home.
The number of freelance jobs with remote options in the FlexJobs database increased by 24% in April 2020 over March 2020.
"Given the current situation, I am not surprised to see a really healthy amount of listings for freelance jobs that can be done remotely," said Sara Sutton, Founder and CEO of FlexJobs. "Although the pandemic has driven overall unemployment numbers up dramatically, we can look at the last recession as an historical point of reference for potential impact on freelancers. During the last recession, remote freelance job listings actually increased even as in-office jobs were declining, due primarily to the fact that these types of jobs can provide more economical options for companies," Sutton concluded.
Below are the top 10 companies, ordered from greatest to least, for the number of freelance job postings during March and April, as well as examples of recent job postings, active as of May 11, at the respective companies. - Contract work: Working as a temporary contract worker, rather than a permanent employee
- Independent contractor: Work terms are specified by a contract with another company or individual, which is how the IRS classifies this type of work
- 1099: Used to describe the type of job. Refers to the IRS form an independent contractor fills out: form 1099-MISC
