NAPLES, Fla., Sept. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Realtor Kristen Weardon, of Premiere Plus Realty, recently took part in a back-to-school backpack drive for the children of Immokalee. "For me a backpack is a place to organize and carry all the important things to be successful in school," said Weardon. "We helped these kids start out with the basic tools to be successful this school year."
Weardon and her fellow Realtors and industry professionals collected more than 400 backpacks, with Weardon collecting 100 backpacks and important school supplies, via an online fundraiser. She was able to order the backpacks online, which came prepared with school supplies.
Weardon and the First Assembly of God Immokalee also recently spearheaded a diaper drive for the community. "Over 30,000 diapers were donated to families desperately in need," concluded Weardon. "Immokalee was one of the harder hit areas from Hurricane Irma. Every day of lost work for this community from Irma meant families had to pick between food and necessities like diapers. As a mom, having to make that choice is unimaginable."
Weardon, who received a Lifetime Achievement Award for Charity in 2007, and was voted woman of the year 2010, has dedicated over 30 years to helping people in need. She has chaired and ran many events such as Florida Fashion Week, and is involved in non-profit organizations such as PACE, a mentoring program for at risk girls, and The WIN Foundation. Weardon prides herself on helping to promote emotional health, personal self-esteem, and empowerment for women by providing programs, conferences, training programs and fundraisers.
