Florida Funders Forges Joint Venture with Florida Angel NEXUS
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) August 21, 2018 -- Florida Funders, a firm providing early-stage capital to Florida technology companies, announces a joint venture with Florida Angel NEXUS, an angel investment group designed to enable members to achieve higher returns with less risk than typical angel groups through community resources and the business acumen of NEXUS members.
Florida Angel NEXUS is a statewide network of accredited angel investors, funds, and family offices focused on investing in early-state high-growth ventures. With the support of UCF, USF, the High-Tech Corridor, and Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research, Florida Angel NEXUS has developed chapters in Orlando, Tallahassee, West Palm, Ocala/Gainesville, and Tampa/St. Pete along with a statewide women’s chapter and a virtual chapter for dispersed investors. The NEXUS community has grown from fifteen initial investors in Orlando to over one-hundred individuals and entities across Florida – providing Florida Funders with an established platform to develop business in new markets throughout Florida.
“By partnering with Florida Angel NEXUS, we’re able to position Florida Funders, it’s partners, investors and startups for significant growth,” said Tom Wallace, Managing Partner for Florida Funders. “Florida Angel NEXUS has been widely successful since its inception in 2013, and we’re pleased to welcome two of its leaders to Florida Funders, developing a stronger presence throughout Florida.”
“NEXUS was created to keep high-potential companies, especially high-paying technology companies, from moving out of Florida in order to obtain capital,” said Michael O’Donnell, Co-Founder of NEXUS. “Numerous companies have emerged as success stories, i.e. they received local funding, are growing their companies here in Florida, generating new Florida jobs, and creating wealth in the process. Investors have benefited by impacting these companies with mentorship, networks connections, and growth capital while accessing the opportunity for exceptional returns. NEXUS is pleased that the leadership of Florida Funders is in sync with the mission and has stepped in to augment and expand our impact.”
Through the joint venture with Florida Angel NEXUS, Eric Ramos, former Director of Operations, and Caroline Castille, Director of Investor Relations, will join Florida Funders. Ramos, a former venture coach and marketing specialist for Blackstone LaunchPad, played a key role in the successful development and growth of Florida Angel NEXUS. Meanwhile, Castille has founded multiple businesses and brings a wealth of experience in developing.
strategies and policies, financial organization, and business communication. In their new roles, both Ramos and Castille will lead Florida Funders development markets throughout Florida. Blaire Martin has also entered into a consulting agreement with Florida Funders to assist with the transition and to continue to work with and serve NEXUS investors, sponsors, and partners as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships.
