Premier equestrian and nature resort in Goethe State Forest partners with PPM Solar to advance its sustainability commitment with a 452-panel solar photovoltaic system
BRONSON, Fla., Oct. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Black Prong Resort, a premier equestrian and nature destination nestled within 75,000 acres of Florida's Goethe State Forest, has completed its largest clean-energy investment to date: a 203-kilowatt solar photovoltaic system designed, supplied, and installed by PPM Solar of Gainesville.
The system comprises 452 high-efficiency Solarever solar panels paired with SolarEdge inverter technology, installed across the roof of the resort's event pavilion. It is projected to generate more than 265,000 kilowatt-hours of clean energy annually — offsetting approximately 73.8% of the resort's total electricity consumption.
The installation is the latest milestone in Black Prong's longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship. The resort already operates solar-heated pools, solar-powered trail and wayfinding lighting, an all-electric guest transportation fleet, and LED-equipped cottages, and has eliminated single-use plastics from its dining operations.
"Solar is an investment in the future of Black Prong and in the experience we want every guest to have. It allows us to continue growing responsibly, reduce our environmental impact, and preserve the quiet, natural setting that makes this place so special. We're excited to keep expanding our sustainability initiatives so future generations can enjoy this landscape just as much as our guests do today." — Reid Nagle, founder of Black Prong Resort
The solar project is expected to offset its cost within five years while significantly reducing the resort's carbon footprint — a meaningful step for a property surrounded by one of Florida's most ecologically diverse state forests. Over a year, the system's output is equivalent to avoiding about 118 metric tons of CO₂e, or taking 28 vehicles off the road.
"At Black Prong, nature is at the heart of the guest experience. Surrounded by the Goethe State Forest, our guests come here to escape the pace of city life and reconnect with the outdoors. Investing in solar was a logical extension of our commitment to preserving the land while building a more sustainable future for the resort. Every improvement we make is guided by the belief that luxury hospitality and environmental stewardship go hand in hand." — Reid Nagle, founder of Black Prong Resort
"Black Prong was a very special project for PPM Solar, standing out from both technological and architectural perspectives. From selecting SolarEdge equipment capable of performing seamlessly across a challenging, multi-directional roof configuration for 25 years to developing a visually refined layout, the project allowed us to maximize the available roof area while preserving the aesthetic character of this nature-focused property. They're not adding solar as an afterthought — it's the natural next step in a sustainability commitment they've been building for years. It's an honor to be part of that story." — Alex Khokhlov, co-founder, PPM Solar
