After his marriage with Helen in 1957, Wrightson moved to the South Coast of New South Wales to start his new life, joining the Electricity Commission of New South Wales. He landed a job as an electrician at a steel works, which turned out to be a tough job. Luckily, he found another job in the same field. Later on, he also became a teacher to apprentices at the Hunter Valley Training Company.
