Today Lumin, a technology company focused on data-driven insights and control through its smart energy platform, announced Brian Sullivan will join the firm as head of data engineering. Sullivan spent six years at Netflix, the world's leading video streaming service, where he was director of the Internet giant's Streaming Data Engineering and Analytics team.
"Attracting high-caliber talent at this stage of Lumin's growth is critical," said Alex Bazhinov, Lumin founder. "Better, smarter hardware is an important enabler of a low-carbon, lower-cost, DER-rich energy future. But to truly unlock that potential, you need deep data-driven insights and then translate those insights into smarter energy control. That’s what Lumin does, and that’s where Brian shines. As a leading expert on consumer use data analytics, including from his time at Netflix, he can help take Lumin’s solution to the next level."
"Leveraging rich and interesting data for the greater good is what I am passionate about," said Sullivan. "I'm excited to build Lumin into a leading cleantech firm and measure, learn, innovate, and grow a platform that puts energy consumption directly in the control of consumers. It's never been done quite like this before."
Prior to Netflix, Sullivan's experience spans the analytic stack, including software engineering, data architecture, reporting/visualization, and analysis. He has also worked across a number of domains including virtual worlds, banking, retail, automobile traffic measurement, and fingerprint recognition systems.
