LINCOLNWOOD, Ill., Aug. 26, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tony S. Kalogerakos, Esq, outgoing president of the Assyrian-American Bar Association (AABA), has endowed a scholarship for law students of Assyrian-American descent.
The Kalogerakos Family Law Scholarship will award two $2,500 scholarships per year to a student enrolled in an accredited US law school beginning in the 2021-2022 school year. The renewable, need-based scholarship will be administered by the AABA's scholarship committee.
"It's been gratifying to witness the rise in stature and recognition of the contributions Assyrian-American attorneys have made to our community," Kalogerakos said. "With this scholarship we hope to help broaden the pipeline of Assyrian-American students pursuing careers in the legal field."
Kalogerakos is the founder and managing partner of Injury Lawyers of Illinois, LLC (http://www.injuryrights.com), and the founding president of the AABA. He served as AABA president from its founding four years ago until 2021, driving its growth from a local bar association with a handful of founding members to nearly 100 members in almost a dozen states and five countries.
One requirement of the application asks applicants to complete a 500-word essay on how they plan to use their legal training to address issues of concern to Assyrians. "We view a commitment to advancing causes that affect Assyrians, both here in America and around the globe, as a crucial element in the selection process," added Kalogerakos.
Scholarship guidelines and the application form can be downloaded from the AABA's website: assyrianlawyers.com/scholarship. Winners will be notified on September 15, 2021.
