With Taylor Knox (USA), Rob Machado (USA), Shane Dorian (HAW), Ross Williams (USA) and Hussain 'Iboo' Areef (MDV), already announced as competitors, there is only one surfer left to join the lineup.
None other than 11x World Champion Kelly Slater (USA), the Greatest Surfer of all Time (GOAT), will be donning the coveted jersey and putting on a show against an iconic lineup of his fellow Momentum Generation surfers, and epic wildcard and multiple Maldives Surfing Champion, Hussain 'Iboo' Areef.
Kelly arrived in the picture-perfect Kuda Huraa today after competing in the WSL Outerknown Tahiti Pro, where he made it through to a semifinal finish and reminded the world once again that he is one of the greatest tube riders this planet has ever seen.
Now gracing the lineup here in the Maldives, Kelly will be enjoying some of the world's most consistent and fun waves, in one of the most stunning locations in the world.
"This is my first time to the Maldives and I'm excited to be surfing with my best buddies that I also grew up competing with," Kelly Slater said. "We've been trying to make this trip happen for years and it's nice for everyone to be here with their partners for a relaxing week."
From August 22-29, follow Kelly as he competes across three different surfing disciplines – single-fin, twin-fin and a triple-fin thruster – going up against his contemporaries and legends of the sport, Knox, Machado, Dorian, Williams and Areef.
