Four Benzer Pharmacies Earn Specialty (ACHC) Accreditation Status

The latest announcement comes by way of Michigan and Florida, where two specialty pharmacy locations in each state have met the exacting standards set forth by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
In being recognized for ACHC certification, the selected Benzer Pharmacies demonstrated compliance with and adherence to the most demanding performance and regulatory requirements of high-achieving specialty pharmacies.
According to Alpesh Patel, President of Benzer Pharmacy, the ACHC is one of four main governing bodies in the pharmacy sector (the others being the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission, the Joint Commission, and the Community Health Accreditation Program), that establishes best practices for serving the specialty pharmacy needs of consumers.
“Earning ACHC accreditation enables authorized Benzer Pharmacy partners—specifically those cited in Michigan and Florida—to gain access to limited distribution drugs in service to specific patient populations,” Patel said. “As a result, we’re also able to contract with a greater number of insurance companies on average, significantly expanding the size and scope of our available customer base in those communities.”

The move toward ACHC accreditation isn’t something that Benzer Pharmacy takes lightly. For his part, Patel is encouraged by what independent third-party validation does in terms of quality control, specialty drug management, operations, and other important benchmarks for specialty pharmacies.
“The ACHC pushes us toward a leadership role in every community we qualify, conducting on-site accreditation surveys every three years,” Patel explained. “It’s a work-in-progress, with a special emphasis on the ‘progress’ part of the equation.”
