Meticulously crafted by consulting winemaker Angelina Mondavi, who is partnering with head winemaker Randy Herron, the line marks the first time a member of the "G4," the fourth generation of the C. Mondavi family, has been involved in winemaking under the family-owned and family-run company banner. Now increasing their role within the family business, the six Mondavi cousins who make up the "G4" are proud to expand their premiere offering.
"In my decades as a winemaker, I've created my own wines and contributed to a number of outside projects; now I get to work for the company my great-grandparents founded, which is an incredible honor," said Angelina Mondavi, part of the G4 and consulting winemaker of Flat Top Hills. "With this new line, our generation is beginning to write our own chapter of our family story. These are the kinds of wines we want to drink and enjoy with our friends."
Inspired by the Mondavi family vineyards in the Dunnigan Hills, which are planted over and among the distinctive "flat-topped" summits, current Flat Top Hills releases include 2018 Rosé (SRP $13.99), 2018 Sauvignon Blanc (SRP $13.99), 2018 Chardonnay (SRP $13.99), 2016 Red Blend (SRP $15.99), and 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $15.99). Additional sourcing comes from appellations throughout California, allowing Mondavi and Herron to choose from individual vineyards in the Alexander Valley, Monterey, Lodi and more, for specific flavor profiles and complexity.
