Frank Burns, MD, the medical director of Middletown Eye Center was one of the first surgeons in Kentucky to implant the Alcon Acrysof IQ PanOptix Trifocal IOL for cataract patients that allows for a new level of correction of immediate, near and distance vision.
“We are excited to offer this amazing technology to patients throughout Kentucky. The FDA clinical results were phenomenal, and so far, our post-op patients that received the PanOptix Trifocal IOL have been very happy,” said Dr. Burns.
FDA approval was based on results from a study of 12 investigational sites in the U.S. The results also showed high patient satisfaction with more than ninety-nine percent of PanOptix patients saying they would choose the same lens again.”

Middletown Eye Care was founded by Frank Burns, MD in the mid 90’s. His focus has been to bring patients in Louisville and the surrounding areas the latest in diagnostic and surgical eye care. He also focuses his practice on LASIK Laser Vision Correction, and laser-assisted cataract surgery using premium lens implants, which may allow patients undergoing cataract removal to see near, far and intermediate distances with little to no dependence on reading glasses and/or bifocals.
