As a non-profit organization created to develop a sustainable energy future for Delawareans, we are honored to earn recognition from ENERGY STAR for the third year in a row.

Franklin Energy, a leading provider of energy efficiency and grid optimization solutions, announced today that its client Delaware Sustainable Energy Utility (DESEU), trading as Energize Delaware, was selected as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year-Sustained Excellence by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Department of Energy. The award recognizes utilities, companies and other organizations for their outstanding contributions to public health and the environment by demonstrating national leadership in cost-saving energy efficient solutions.

The agencies awarded Energize Delaware its Sustained Excellence award for the organization’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® (HPwES) program, which Franklin Energy implements through a partnership with Energize Delaware.
“As a non-profit organization created to develop a sustainable energy future for Delawareans, we are honored to earn recognition from ENERGY STAR for the third year in a row,” said Tony DePrima, Executive Director at DESEU. “The award is a testament to the hard work of our staff and trade allies. It also validates our successful program partnership with Franklin Energy, whose data-driven technologies have enabled us to offer a simple way for Delaware residents to save energy, reduce utility costs and improve their quality of life.”
HPwES takes a “whole-house” approach to improving a home’s energy efficiency, saving both customers and utilities costs for energy consumption and distribution. Rather than focus on one challenge, such as outdated lighting, the program offers financial incentives and low-interest loans to make energy-saving upgrades throughout the home. Participants start with a rebated full audit of their home’s energy consumption, then work with participating contractors to make integrated improvements, resulting in typical cost savings of 20 percent.

“We’re proud to partner with the DESEU on the Energize Delaware program, bringing together our shared commitment to energy innovation and conservation,” said Franklin Energy Regional Vice President Paul Smith. “From conducting field installations to managing the rebate process to handling customer service, Franklin Energy leads implementation of this award-winning program every step of the way. Our technology streamlines the multi-step journey for participants, making it easier for more Delawareans to participate.”

In addition to HPwES, Franklin Energy also implements other efficiency programs for Energize Delaware, including the Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program and the Home Energy Check Up Program and Counseling Program (HEC2).

“I applaud the 2019 ENERGY STAR Award Winners,” said EPA Assistant Administrator for Air and Radiation Bill Wehrum. “Their innovation and leadership enhance America’s economic competitiveness. Reducing costly energy waste improves air quality and public health while protecting the environment.”

The highest honor among ENERGY STAR Awards is the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year—Sustained Excellence Award. The EPA presents the Sustained Excellence Award to partners that have already received ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year recognition for a minimum of two consecutive years and have gone above and beyond the criteria needed to qualify for recognition.
