Fred Beck's Newly Released "When God Works Incognito: Autobiographical Vignettes" Is a Stirring Memoir Depicting Missionary Work in South and Southeast Asia
"When God Works Incognito: Autobiographical Vignettes" from Christian Faith Publishing author Fred Beck is a remarkable memoir from a missionary worker who for more than thirty years has been living and working in South and Southeast Asia on a mission for God, as he learns to struggle and grow and ask the important questions concerning God.
MEADVILLE, Pa., August 3, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- "When God Works Incognito: Autobiographical Vignettes": an engaging book of a longtime missionary's reflections. "When God Works Incognito: Autobiographical Vignettes" is the creation of published author Fred Beck, who with his wife served as a Baptist missionary through the International Mission Board in Richmond, Virginia, training hundreds of pastors in South Asia. He is currently retired in Amarillo, Texas, where he and his wife are involved in Bible classes and ESL for adults.
Beck writes about decisive moments on his journey, "On the first of June 1990, we departed Indonesia on an 'exit only permit,' which meant we gave up our visa to Indonesia.
"We were brokenhearted about being 'politely' forced to leave Indonesia, a country and work we loved and enjoyed for twenty years, where three of our children had grown into young adulthood, and where our fourth was born. Nonetheless, we were at peace, though we had no idea what God had in store for our future. We would, however, discover His plans during nearly a month in the USA.
"Actually, a year earlier, we had discussed our situation with Jerry Rankin, then serving as director to the South & Southeast Asia Area, for the International Mission Board. He had offered two possibilities, if we were forced to leave Indonesia. The first was in Australia, the second in the Philippines. However, neither of those fit our gifts or interest, nor did we feel leadership from God. Now a year later, we had departed Indonesia and had no place to serve."
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Fred Beck's new book is a thoughtful account of a lifetime serving God. Beck recognizes how the spiritual person is equipped through Christ to interact with God and notice His presence and His hand at work, as revealed to some and hidden from others.
In its broadest strokes, Beck's memoir is an uplifting illustration of God's long-term plans for His dedicated servants.
