FREDERICK, Md., April 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Frederick Arts Council the Public Art Master Plan for Frederick. The plan has been completed after a nearly two-year process of development and consultation with thousands of community stakeholders.
"Connections" provides Frederick with a roadmap to continue deepening its sense of place through public art. The vision of the plan is stated as developing "a Frederick where public art connects residents and visitors, expresses an authentic and unique sense of place, drives economic prosperity through creativity, and advances a culturally inclusive and empowered future."
The plan highlights County "creative zones" and upcoming opportunities to place public art; outlines an "implementation guide" with policies and procedures for securing sustainable funding and managing a county-wide public art program; and contains a reference section of best practices for all processes involved (in alignment with those developed by Americans for the Arts). The plan was developed with the guidance of public art planning consultant Todd Bressi.

The plan is forward looking while also embracing a sense of history. The plan builds on Frederick's past commitment to public art and charts how a robust public art plan can be even more transformative and a key economic driver. We at the City look forward to partnering with the Frederick Arts Council to make sure even more of these transformative artworks solidify Frederick as an innovative place to be."
The plan will be announced in a ceremony at Sky Stage on April 4th, and afterward be available to the public for download at frederickartscouncil.org.
The Public Art Master Plan has been an initiative funded in part by the Ausherman Family Foundation.
