The Frederick Flying Cows professional basketball team recently signed point guard Steve Custis. Custis grew up in the Frederick area and was a standout four-year varsity player for Frederick High School before continuing a successful collegiate and international career. Custis is also a co-founder of Zone24, a popular basketball training facility in Frederick.
FREDERICK, Md., Oct. 24, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Frederick Flying Cows recently signed point guard Steve Custis. This is especially pertinent news for the Frederick community, as Custis grew up in the Frederick area and was a standout four year varsity player for Frederick High School. Custis was named the team MVP in two of his four seasons at Frederick High. After graduating in 2007, Custis played collegiately at Fairmont State University in West Virginia. He had a terrific career for the Fighting Falcons, scoring nearly 1,700 points and graduating as the all time leader in steals with 195. Custis went on to have a very successful professional career, playing internationally for five seasons in Austria, Italy and South America winning 3 league championships.
Custis is also the co-founder, along with business partner Art Claybon, of Zone24, a popular basketball training facility in Frederick. The facility focuses on helping younger players maximize their skills and elevate their overall game to the next level. When asked about what this signing means to him, Custis stated "I am excited to represent Frederick, because it's home, and thrilled to be back playing where it all started!"
Custis should be able to provide valuable experience at the point guard position with his polished all-around skillset. This season hopes to be a triumphant return to pro basketball for a highly accomplished player who is once again representing his hometown on the court.
