HENDERSON, Tenn., September 13, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Freed-Hardeman University has moved up eight spots in the 2020 U.S. News and World Report ranking of colleges and universities, making this the second consecutive year FHU has made major gains in the standings. In the past two years, the university has moved up 15 spots.
FHU is tied for 31st in the Regional Universities—South category of "Best Colleges 2020." Last year, the university tied for 39th place. In addition, it is listed at #10 in Best Value Schools.
The magazine annually rates approximately 1,800 institutions based on the following criteria: outcomes, 35 percent; faculty resources, 20 percent; expert opinion, 20 percent; financial resources, 10 percent; student excellence, 10 percent; and alumni giving, 5 percent. The magazine uses only quantifiable data and last year began considering, in addition to other factors, how successful schools are at enrolling and retaining students who receive Pell Grants.
The Best Value ranking specifically considers a school's academic quality and the 2018-19 cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.
