Frisco Offers Live Mandarin Courses in All its High Schools
FRISCO, Texas (PRWEB) August 03, 2018 -- By Rimsha Syed
Frisco ISD and k-12 virtual staffing company Proximity Learning Inc. (PLI) are pleased to publicize a partnership that will place the country’s best Mandarin, and American Sign Language, teachers in front of their students through interactive live curriculum for the next three years. Live, tele-conferenced-computer based instruction is on the frontier of forever altering the way students experience education, and PLI is able to do justice to Frisco ISD’s mission of facilitating “students who graduate with the skills they need to pursue their aspirations.” PLI is recognized by leaders in the field for improving individual student achievement and success, boasting a 93% pass rate for courses.
Frisco ISD is one of the fastest growing public school districts in the country, known for its small-schools they model and guide personalized learning environments to understand each child’s unique needs. In order to accommodate a growing student population, a new high school is built nearly every year. By virtue of the premise of innovation and growth the district wanted to offer advanced Mandarin and ASL classes, but were unable to find qualified teachers required in every high school. Frisco ISD is unable to fill core subject positions or staff world language educators as quickly as schools are built. It is neither practical nor cost effective for Frisco to do so. In an effort to mitigate the challenge of faculty recruitment, the district heard about PLI’s ability to connect master teachers with students. Moreover, PLI’s reputation in providing virtual teachers, established in over 100 districts lead Frisco ISD to conclude that live instruction was the best academic option. Between PLI’s flexibility and Frisco ISD’s commitment to offer progressive education, a three year contract was signed on behalf of the district.
Frisco ISD is now offering Level I - AP Mandarin and level I-III ASL courses in each of their nine high schools, ensuring all students can complete a full world language track.
“One of the worst injustices for a student, is to be forced to switch world languages in the middle of their learning track.” Said Evan Erdberg, CEO of Proximity Learning Inc. “It takes a progressive district to put students first and invest in virtual staffing.”
Students and parents are keen to call Frisco ISD home because of innovative programs, such as PLI, who prioritize the personal success of their students. In terms of adaptability, PLI affords students the opportunity to grow at their own pace and comfort level. Until the district solidified their partnership with PLI, the district was unable to offer advanced world language classes. As a consequence of Frisco ISD’s relationship with PLI, the district continues to see a steep upward trajectory in enrollment in these “live classrooms” as well as positive student engagement and achievement.
Frisco ISD: Frisco ISD serves over 700 students in each elementary school, roughly 800-1000 student in each middle school, and 2,100 students in each high school. The district currently enrolls more than 58,000 students in nine high schools, 16 middle schools, 40 elementary schools, and three special school programs. Frisco is located about 30 miles north of Dallas and encompasses 75 square miles.
