Froguts Helps India Implement National Legislation
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 05, 2014 -- Froguts, the only provider of subscription-based dissection simulations and labs for K-12 and higher education, is now being offered to schools by leading animal rights groups in India in an effort to fulfill country-wide governmental guidelines banning the use of animal dissection in schools, universities, and colleges. This is a major step towards implementing the 2012 India Ministry of Environment and Forests’s directive that bans the use of animal dissection, favoring computer-aided teaching methods.
The decision to ban animal dissections by the Indian government was lauded by regional animal rights and ethics groups, who then approached Froguts. The Mahatma Gandhi-Doerenkamp Center for Alternatives to Use of Animals in Life Science Education and PETA India are offering training and are subsidizing subscriptions to Froguts. This allows schools within India to comply with the ruling while still meeting their rigorous educational standards.

Legislating animal dissections is not new, and within the U.S. there are currently laws in 16 states and Wash. D.C. that mandate dissection alternatives like computer simulations be provided within schools. According to information from PETA U.S., in addition to India, animal dissection is banned or restricted in Argentina, Australia, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, and Slovakia.
