Riders have unprecedented control to customize their ride, and can also share their Onewheel experiences via new social features in the Onewheel app.

Future Motion, maker of the popular Onewheel electric board, today announced the new Gemini firmware, featuring Custom Shaping, a new, in-app platform that enables users to completely customize how their board rides in order to suit their preferences. The company also launched social sharing in the Onewheel app (iOS/Android) today, allowing riders to share their recorded rides including photos, routes, and distances traveled on their boards with others via social media. Onewheel, a board already known to provide an incredibly smooth, superior riding experience, now enables riders to fine-tune the board’s firmware through the Custom Shaping platform to make the experience even more personal and enjoyable. The Custom Shaping platform allows users to tailor their board’s:

  • Carveability - change the sensitivity of the board (from loose to tight) while turning and carving.
  • Stance Profile - control the baseline tilt angle of the board. Change your ride from nose up to nose down, or anything in-between.
  • Aggressiveness - change how strongly the board reacts to your movements. Low aggressiveness will feel more plush, while high aggressiveness will feel tight and responsive.

Kyle Doerksen, founder and CEO of Future Motion, which manufactures Onewheel, said: “Custom Shaping is the most advanced riding platform of its kind. We wanted to give riders more control over how their Onewheel feels to suit their specific riding style. As a company we’re constantly chasing the dream of the ultimate ride experience. Some riders prefer a more intense boardfeel that reacts strongly to their movements, while others opt for a more slack and laid-back ride. With Custom Shaping, riders have the ability to make Onewheel their own and have the best possible experience every time they ride.”

Also available with today’s app update is social sharing. With this new feature, users can see where others in the community have traveled on the in-app map, and share their own rides. “With more than 7.5 million miles logged in the Onewheel app to-date, our users are riding in awesome places all over the world, and we want to make it easy for them to share their riding adventures,” said Jack Mudd, Chief Evangelist at Onewheel. “Now, you can see the routes others in your area have traveled and get inspiration for your next ride.”

Onewheel users can access the new Custom Shaping and social sharing features by updating their app and then updating their Onewheel’s firmware to the new Gemini build, which is also done via the app.
