SkillsUSA to use G-W resources to assess student knowledge during national contests
TINLEY PARK, Ill., June 16, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Goodheart-Willcox (G-W), a leading publisher of learning materials and digital solutions, and SkillsUSA, a national association that prepares students for careers in trade, technical, and skilled service occupations, have established a new partnership surrounding the SkillsUSA Championships.
The SkillsUSA Championships, a showcase featuring the best career and technical education (CTE) students in the nation, require contestants to complete written assessments and perform skills demonstrations. To help evaluate the competitors, G-W is providing the assessments for 23 SkillsUSA contests, using resources from its leading CTE titles, including The Culinary Professional for the Culinary Arts competition, Modern Automotive Technology for the Automotive Service Technology competition, and Introduction to Medical Terminology for the Medical Terminology competition. G-W assessments will also be used in construction, broadcast news, manufacturing, IT, graphic arts, power equipment, and welding contests.
"G-W has worked with CTE educators to assess the technical skills and knowledge of students for nearly 100 years, so this partnership is a natural extension of that," said John Flanagan, president of G-W."
"Goodheart-Willcox has stepped up to support America's future skilled workforce by providing invaluable resources and assessments for students competing in a number of competitions in the 2022 SkillsUSA Championships," said Chelle Travis, executive director at SkillsUSA. "These assessments are an accurate measure of knowledge that helps keep SkillsUSA students up to date with current industry technology. SkillsUSA is graduating over 100,000 students each year who are ready for further education or entry into a career."
The SkillsUSA Championships take place as part of the National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta June 20–24, 2022. G-W will have a sample of each title featured in the 2022 SkillsUSA Championship competitions in Booth #361 at the SkillsUSA TECHSPO trade show.
