The contribution assists the Napa Valley Community Foundation in their efforts to combat the devastating effects of the Glass Fire in Northern California
SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 21, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Following the devastating Glass Fire that impacted tens of thousands of acres of wine country, Gary's Wine & Marketplace owners Gary and Liz Fisch donated $25,000 to Napa Valley Community Foundation's Disaster Relief Fund. Gary's Wine & Marketplace began as a small wine shop in New Jersey in 1987 and has since grown to be one of the largest fine wine businesses in the New York metropolitan area with a fifth store in Napa Valley, California. With his long standing connections in the industry, Gary rallied his colleagues across the U.S. to support resulting in more than $100,000 in additional contributions.
"Our community is resilient and when we band together, we can get through even the worst of times," says Gary's Wine & Marketplace Founder & CEO Gary Fisch. "The Napa Valley Community Foundation continues to safeguard those who are most hard hit and Liz and I are humbled to help those who have lost so much."
The Napa Valley Community Foundation has worked side-by-side with local donors and nonprofits to support Napa Valley for more than 25 years. It has distributed more than $75 million in grants to improve the quality of life for residents of the region. Separately, following the 2014 South Napa Earthquake, the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund was created and has since distributed more than $25 million for relief and recovery efforts.
"We're so grateful for the generous gift to support wildfire relief from Gary's Wine & Marketplace," says Napa Valley Community Foundation President Terence Mulligan. "On top of this wonderful donation, Gary Fisch personally reached out to his colleagues in the wine retail business across the US to urge them to step forward. Many of them did so, and we're going to be able to help lots of people as a result."
