U.S.S. Sequoia is a world-famous boat with a very rich American history, having served as the presidential yacht for many presidents, including Herbert Hoover and seven presidents thereafter, including Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, and Jimmy Carter.
When asked about Silversmith’s most-valued possession, he stated, “I am proud to own U.S.S. Sequoia; I got this boat in the year 2000 and ever since every day has been a surprise for me, especially owing to the fact that this yacht has been a significant part of the history of America. Needless to mention, I’m a serious aficionado of American history.”

If it had not been for Silversmith’s purchase of U.S.S. Sequoia, it could have landed in foreign hands, which may not have preserved it this well for American progeny. The yacht got its legendary beginning with former possessor William Dunning, an oil executive of Sequoia Oil. After changing hands several times, it is now in the private possession of Silversmith, who was quoted as saying -“The history of U.S.S. Sequoia is really impressive and would impress any American patriot. So, there’s nothing surprising that I was really swept away by this wonderful yacht. Even to this day, I still feel proud to own this yacht for more than 13 years now.”
