Fourteen Centers Receiving Specialty Care Distinction

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois honors all 14 Illinois area Gateway Foundation substance use treatment centers and its affiliate Beacon House in Pacific Grove, CA . As of today, Gateway facilities in Aurora, Carbondale, Caseyville, Chicago, Lake Villa, Gurnee, Pekin, Swansea, Pekin, Joliet, Jacksonville, and Springfield are all designated under the insurance provider’s Blue Distinction Specialty Care Program.

Today, drug overdose remains the leading cause of death for people under the age of 50. In Illinois, opioids killed nearly 11,000 residents since 2008. According to the state Department of Health, “The opioid epidemic is the most significant public health and public safety crisis facing Illinois.”
