GBG of Trumbull, Connecticut Receives ‘Supplier of the Year’ Award from the Greater New England Minority Supplier Diversity Council

GBG The Corporate Gift Source of Trumbull, Connecticut received the Greater New England Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s (GNEMSDC) Supplier of the Year award at a ceremony held at MGM Springfield, Massachusetts on September 11.

GBG The Corporate Gift Source received the Greater New England Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s (GNEMSDC) Supplier of the Year award at a ceremony held at MGM Springfield, Massachusetts on September 11.

The Supplier of the Year Award recognizes minority-owned suppliers who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Customer Service, Sales Growth, Quality, Delivery, Cost Competitiveness and other areas deserving of recognition.

Inga Lee Puentes, who chairs the Supplier Diversity Program at United Technologies (UTC), nominated GBG for the award.

“GBG pays close attention to detail and they’re always willing to get the job done, even with a fast turnaround,” Puentes said. “When I place an order with GBG, I know I can trust them.”

The small company has won numerous awards over the years but this one is particularly special, GBG President Charlotte O’Banion said. “Everyone at GBG is beyond thrilled to receive this recognition because we have so much respect for the Greater New England Minority Supplier Diversity Council. Knowing that the nomination came from UTC makes it even more rewarding because they have such high standards. We’re all very honored.”

O’Banion, who lives in Fairfield, CT, founded GBG in 1987. She and her team of five employees have since grown the certified Minority Women-Owned Disadvantaged Business into a multi-million dollar company that provides promotional goods and services to a diverse range of industries throughout the Northeast.

The GNEMSDC annual award ceremony was preceded by a diversity supplier expo on September 10. Annual corporate sponsors include United Technologies, Raytheon, Cartus, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and over 30 other companies.
