More than 2,800 professionals gathered in Denver; show floor completely sold out
DENVER, Feb. 23, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Geospatial and built world professionals gathered last week for Geo Week, held February 13-15, 2023 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. Geo Week is the premier conference and tradeshow created in response to the changing needs of geospatial and built world professionals that acknowledges and reflects the increasing convergence of technologies.
Geo Week brought together 2,821 professionals in person from more than 3,100 registrants, representing a 50% increase in verified attendance over the 2022 event. The event had a sold-out exhibit hall floor featuring 190 exhibitors, representing a 31% increase over 2022, further cementing Geo Week as the premier event for technologies for the built environment, advanced airborne/terrestrial technologies, and commercial 3D technologies.
"The turnout was tremendous," said Lee Corkhill, Group Event Director at Diversified Communications, which produces the event. "Fifty percent growth is unprecedented but not surprising given the demand for knowledge, networking opportunities, and technology to make informed decisions and solve global challenges."
Geo Week kicked off Monday, February 13 with Product Previews, followed by two and a half days of extensive conference programming from 200+ speakers, including a keynote presentation from Esri Founder and President Jack Dangermond and a keynote panel with industry leaders speaking to the AEC industry's readiness for digitization. The keynote presentations can be accessed online here.
In the exhibit hall, best-in-class solutions from the most influential companies were on display, allowing attendees to source the latest geospatial and built world innovations while networking with vendors and attendees from all 50 U.S. states and 41 countries. Dozens of new products were introduced at Geo Week making it a true hub for innovation. Additionally, USIBD held a laser-scanning competition, universities were highlighted in the Academic Showcase, and WGIC hosted a panel calling for action on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion within the industry.
Special features of the 2023 event included a Pitch the Press event, where the latest products from Oxford Technical Solutions (OxTS), LidarSwiss Solutions, and Exyn Technologies were chosen from 16 presentations that were pitched in quick succession to a panel of high-profile press representatives at Geo Week. These solutions represent the cutting edge in autonomous UAV technology, lidar georeferencing and boresight calibration, and real-time UAV lidar processing.
The Geo Week Awards Ceremony, in collaboration with LIDAR Magazine, LiDAR News and ASPRS, celebrated excellence across the geospatial industry. The LIDAR Leaders Awards recognized accomplishments and innovations from Woolpert, Cepton Inc, Colorado Springs Utilities, Queens University (Belfast) and personal achievement from Dr. Qassim Abdullah, Chief Scientist at Woolpert.
