Formed in 1972, Geothermal Rising is the largest geothermal professional and trade association on Earth, connecting the geothermal community and general public. In addition to serving its members, the organization continues to advance global awareness of geothermal energy's potential to help fight climate change and bring environmental justice as part of its core message: Use the Earth to Save the Earth.

On Earth Day this year, Geothermal Rising was responsible for sparking the Biggest Moment in Geothermal History, which saw millions of people around the world—from geothermal scientists to Hollywood actors—take to social media in support of the clean energy source. The moment featured a widely-shared video that asked "why not geothermal?" to question leaders as to why geothermal energy is not more broadly discussed, researched, funded, or used to its full potential.
