Succeed Delivers Two Updated Hazard Communication Training Courses for Employees and Managers
(PRWEB) October 25, 2016 -- Succeed Management Solutions, LLC has released two Hazard Communication Awareness training courses for employees and managers. Both trainings comply with the final GHS requirement that went into effect June 1, 2016, including current labeling requirements and the 16 standardized sections of an SDS.
Employers are required to be in full compliance by updating alternative workplace labeling and their written hazard communication program, and having their employees trained on additional identified physical or health hazards. Employers must also ensure facility hazards are properly addressed and adherence to all other elements of the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) is achieved.
The final installment of the GHS regulation has many companies still working to achieve full compliance. In May 2016, a fragrance manufacturer in Pennsylvania received six serious violations for exposing workers to chemical hazards. One of the serious violations included failing to maintain safety data sheets with required safety and health information. Penalties totaling $60,000 have been proposed (OSHA News Release, 05/31/16). Updating safety data sheets is crucial to ensure hazards are understood and employees know how to work safely with materials in the workplace.
Succeed’s updated Hazard Communication Awareness for Employees course focuses on how to read safety information found on labels, new labeling requirements for hazardous chemicals, and how to use safety data sheets (SDSs) to determine related hazards and controls. The new Hazard Communication Awareness for Managers course describes how to develop a written hazard communication program to implement in an organization, how to properly audit your program, and downloadable template policy documents.
The trainings include embedded quiz questions and videos for employees to actively apply their knowledge to ensure understanding of and compliance to the new GHS requirements. These courses are an easy and efficient way for an organization to achieve compliance, keep the workplace safe and avoid fines.
As with all Succeed courses, this training can be assigned to employees via Training Track™, an application that is designed to automate all aspects of an employee training program. Training Track™ is one of the available applications in Succeed’s web-based Risk Management Center. The Risk Management Center also contains other OSHA-required programs, training materials, and integrated software solutions.
Organizations can also access the trainings via OpenSesame: Hazard Communication Awareness for Managers - English, Hazard Communication Awareness for Employees - English
