Gilbane’s Lucas Richmond Named to ENR Midwest’s Top Young Professionals
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) January 11, 2017 -- Gilbane Building Company is pleased to announce that Lucas Richmond has been named to ENR Midwest’s Top Young Professionals. This year’s honorees were chosen from a competitive field of worthy candidates. The finalists are a group of up-and-coming professionals and community leaders in the Midwest area, representing the very best in the AEC industry.
Lucas Richmond began his media career immediately after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Stout as a 3D artist for Burmeister Woodwork turning CAD files into virtual 3D environments. Lucas joined Gilbane Building Company in December 2007 working as a media production designer. Under Lucas’ leadership, Gilbane’s Media Studio has grown into a powerhouse team providing high-impact visual communications that use 3D animation and virtual reality to bring our clients’ visions to life during the sales process. Lucas is a sought after speaker/panelist as an expert in technological advancements in the AEC industry.
“As the leader of Gilbane’s Central Midwest Division, I challenge each and every team member to continually raise the bar and innovate in their area of expertise. I could not be more proud of Lucas and his commitment to advancing our industry. It’s great to see Lucas being recognized for his hard work, innovation, and dedication that I have been fortunate enough to witness firsthand.” said Adam Jelen, Gilbane Building Company Senior Vice President and Division Leader
Lucas has made great contributions to the construction industry, but even more importantly, he is committed to giving back to the local Milwaukee community. One particular organization that is near and dear to Lucas is the Honor Flight Organization. For the men and women who cannot physically participate in the airplane flight, they are bussed to their local memorial. After hearing about this event, Lucas came up with a way to virtually transport veterans to the DC memorial through the use of VR technology. It was tremendously gratifying to see the veterans’ smiles as they strapped on an Oculus Rift headset and viewed realistic simulations of the DC memorials that they would otherwise be unable to see in person. Lucas’ concept and vision gave many veterans a life-changing experience.
Lucas encourages high school and college students to pursue careers in design and construction. He is also a volunteer with Discovery World Summer Camp, helping to motivate and inspire young minds.
Lucas holds a BFA in Multimedia from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Additionally, Lucas is currently in an apprenticeship program, learning the trade of blacksmithing at Milwaukee Blacksmith. Once he learns the basics of the trade, he eventually hopes to dive into architectural and traditional blacksmithing and fabrication. This additional training is a testament to Lucas’ drive and commitment to continuous learning and growth.
