Ginger Keyboard 2.0 Launches, Offering Personalized Mobile Experience
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 30, 2014 -- Natural language processing (NLP) company Ginger Software is debuting the 2.0 version of its Keyboard app for Android devices. The Keyboard deploys an enhanced correction engine and introduces personalization to the Ginger experience by letting users customize their Keyboard's look and feel, add a wide range of input languages as well as personalize its functionality via the new Ginger Personal Dictionary.
Ginger constantly updates the Dictionary with new words trending on the internet, so that even brand-new words like "selfie" are recognized. Users can also manually configure their Personal Dictionary to recognize slang, names and places so that Ginger doesn't mark them as mistakes. This works across platforms, meaning that words added to the dictionary on the desktop application will be correctly identified on mobile devices and vice versa. Uniquely spelled words used a number of times are automatically added to the dictionary.
The new version also enhances Ginger's core online editing engine by adding new grammatical category coverage like punctuation, and increases the accuracy of suggested corrections. Ginger's online proofreader is contextually-aware so that suggested corrections are in tune with the message that the text is trying to convey. This means that correctly spelled words that do not make sense within the context of a sentence are flagged by Ginger. Additional capabilities include a rephrasing tool that suggests alternative ways to write text that add more expression and clarity to the original message.
Other new features include:
New themes and layouts: Users will now have the option to customize their keyboard layout with a selection of five different themes to choose from. These include changing the keyboard color and spacing of the keyboard buttons.
Multiple language support: The new keyboard will include the option to switch to other languages via the space button. The additional languages, which include Japanese, Tagalog and Chinese, bring the total number of supported languages to more than 60.
Automatic word-prediction: The Keyboard supports both online and offline word-prediction for many of the featured languages.
"The latest version of our Keyboard makes it even easier for native and non-native English speakers alike to take the hassle out of spelling and grammar checking," said Ginger CMO Dudu Noy. “Part of Ginger's strength lies in its cloud based cross-platform nature; having it accessible everywhere the user writes is part of our company's mission. We’re very excited about this release and will be placing greater emphasis on our mobile offering with future updates. In fact, we’re going to be exhibiting our current and future mobile offering at the upcoming Mobile World Conference taking place in Barcelona in February.”
