NEW YORK, Nov. 26, 2018 Miss out on the excitement of The Macy's Day Parade? The New York Celebration will continue this Tuesday in Times Square, where thousands of volunteers will line the streets to raise awareness for their cause. November 27th is Giving Tuesday, and this year Five Tier, a Manhattan based company tasked with managing much of the content on billboards worldwide, has teamed up with numerous organizations to commemorate their hard-work, and help raise awareness for their cause using the bright city lights.

Giving Tuesday is known as a Global day of giving. It was founded in response to the consumeration and commercialization of Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. Fueled by social media and collaboration to encourage platforms as a means of giving time, resources, and talent, it is the perfect opportunity to kick off the charitable season and get involved in your community.
"This Giving Tuesday we'd like to remind everyone that while we have made progress, exclusion is real for millions of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) in every aspect of their lives." said Kelli Seely, the Chief Marketing and Development Officer of the Special Olympics. "Your gift this Giving Tuesday at SpecialOlympics.org will help power our all-out effort to completely end discrimination against people with ID and replace it with a fully inclusive world."
Five Tier championed the Giving Tuesday program to give nonprofits throughout the country the opportunity to spread the message of giving back in New York City's iconic Times Square. Over 40 different nonprofit organizations are participating in the Giving Tuesday Times Square takeover, including Operation Smile, Rescue Freedom Project, The United Methodist Church, Mensa Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, Homes For Our Troops, Wildlife Waystation, United Methodist Communications, International Relief Teams, Pituitary Network Association, and many more.
Giving Tuesday has been bringing people together since 2012. Founded in New York City by the team at Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd street Y, #GivingTuesday connects diverse groups of individuals, communities and organizations around the world for one common purpose: to celebrate and encourage giving. Giving Tuesday unites people globally in their efforts to care for and empower one another.
