Georgia Historical Society commemorates the 175th anniversary of its founding, unveils a logo specially designed to mark its anniversary year, and its world class Research Center is featured in a documentary video.
The Georgia Historical Society (GHS) officially kicked off the 175th Anniversary Year with its Annual Meeting and Garden Party held on April 30, 2014.
Previously, the Society was featured in a short documentary video on Glimsity covering its Research Center that depicted the organization’s mission to collect, examine and teach Georgia and American history. The video details GHS President and CEO Dr. W. Todd Groce’s personal motto, “to study the past while creating a better future.”
The Society’s 175th Anniversary logo was designed with this motto in mind as well. The logo is consistent with GHS’s current branding, utilizing its signature color––steel blue––symbolizing strength and trust. The fonts are traditional with an updated twist and the shape suggests stability and balance with the lines representing tiers of learning, growth, and community.
The premier independent statewide institution, GHS is responsible for collecting, examining and teaching Georgia history. GHS houses the oldest and most distinguished collection of materials related exclusively to Georgia history in the nation.
