Our healthcare resources are strained and our frontline workers are exhausted, [so] we’re recommending that anyone celebrating the holidays with people outside of their household should first take a rapid 3-in-1 COVID and Influenza A and/or B test to limit the continued spread of the virus.
HOUSTON (PRWEB) December 23, 2020
With more than 1.5 million new COVID cases reported in the last week alone, the Centers for Disease Control is urging Americans to celebrate the holidays at home to limit the spread of the virus. To help holiday travelers and college students returning home determine if they have been infected with the virus before gathering with people outside of their household, GMED Global, LLC, an international health care institution specializing in medical education and health care workforce development and solutions for government and non-government organizations, today announced updated holiday hours for rapid 3-in-1 COVID-19 and Influenza A and/or B testing at its three Rapid COVID Clinics. GMED encourages anyone who will be celebrating the holidays with people not in their immediate household to get tested first to limit the spread of the coronavirus. COVID testing is available at GMED’s two Houston locations and its clinic in Old Town Scottsdale by appointment, with results provided the same day.
“Last month, the CDC discouraged holiday travel and large gatherings, but large numbers of people continued to travel and celebrate Thanksgiving at big family gatherings,” said Dr. Ramin Ahmadi, Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of GMED. “We recognize that COVID fatigue is real and people are eager to reconnect with family and friends. To limit the spread of COVID at a time when our healthcare resources are strained and our frontline workers are exhausted, we’re recommending that anyone celebrating the holidays with people outside of their household should first take a rapid 3-in-1 COVID and Influenza A and/or B test to ensure they’re healthy and limit the continued spread of the virus. Rapid COVID tests are a critical tool in identifying people who test positive for the virus so they can act quickly to isolate and prevent further spread of the disease.”
GMED’s Rapid COVID Clinic utilizes the rapid Sofia 2 Flu + SARS Antigen FIA test manufactured by Quidel, one of the few rapid antigen tests in the country, and approved for emergency use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The test includes a pain-free nasal swab that can be self-administered - minimizing the exposure between test takers and health care providers. This highly accurate 3-in-1 test directly detects the presence of COVID-19 and Influenza A and/or B and test results are returned the same day.
