In order to win the scholarship, applicants will be required to submit a 1,500-word original essay about cybersecurity, internet freedom, innovation, combating censorship or privacy rights. The student must also be enrolled in any college or university within the United States of America. Only students who are legal US citizens will be allowed to participate in the scholarship. The student will also be required to have attained a cumulated weighted GPA of at least 3.0. High school students, international students, temporary students and those who are family members or friends of GoBestVPN staff will not be considered.

The winner of the scholarship will be contacted via email. An appropriate response will be required within 14 days of that communication. If a response is not received within the said period, then the scholarship will pass on to the next best candidate. The winner will receive a prize of $2,500.
