LOS ANGELES, Nov. 5, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Comedy and entertainment veteran Stan Zimmerman announced today that he is writing a book to be published in 2021. In The Girls: From Gilmore to Golden, Zimmerman will tell stories about all the wonderful women he's worked with. And Roseanne.
Zimmerman has always had entertainment in his bones, as a child creating his very own television network in his bedroom (counter programming, t.v. grid, advertising, you name it) in Southfield, Michigan. Earning a BFA at NYU/Circle-in-the-Square drama program took him to New York, and after a time he moved on to LA. Among Zimmerman's many writing accomplishments is his memorable and beloved work as half of the long-running comedy writing team, Zimmerman & Berg. Their television credits include season one of The Golden Girls, Brothers, Fame, Roseanne, the highly successful fifth season of Gilmore Girls, and the TV movie, Annie. Zimmerman & Berg also wrote The Brady Bunch Movie and A Very Brady Sequel. Together they are credited with 2 WGA-nominations for "Rose's Mother" from The Golden Girls and "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," the legendary lesbian kiss episode of Roseanne.
Zimmerman has been involved in numerous recent theatre projects, including directing his buzzworthy Latinx production of The Diary of Anne Frank and A Wendy Weekend (festival of three Wendy Wasserstein plays) for Playbill.com. He wrote and co-starred with Vanessa Williams in his suicide notes play right before I go. for Quick Center/Fairfield University.
Zimmerman's publisher Indigo River seeks out authors with the ability to offer smart, affectionate, and humorous insights into famous personalities. Zimmerman's quick wit, infectious spirit, and award-winning talent, coupled with his fascinating and varied experiences with some of America's favorite female celebrities, made him a natural fit. PR and Marketing firm Spotlight represented Zimmerman in the deal under its literary agency arm.
"My happy place is working with and creating for women," said Zimmerman. "I've been very fortunate in my entertainment career to have done that for some pretty exceptional ones. They have taught me so much, especially how to be a better and more compassionate human. Thanks to Indigo River Publishing, I will now be able to share these humorous, touching, and always inspirational stories with the world."
The Girls: From Gilmore to Golden will be available from online booksellers such as Amazon and Barnes and Noble as well as over 30,000 brick and mortar bookstores nationwide. The book will be published by Indigo River Publishing and distributed by Simon & Schuster.
