Goodheart-Willcox Celebrates Its 100-Year Anniversary
Founded in 1921, G-W marks its centennial by inviting educators to share their stories and recognize the "Heroes for a Hundred Years"
TINLEY PARK, Ill., Jan. 29, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Dyke's Automobile and Gasoline Engine Encyclopedia, released in 1921, was the first in a long line of publishing milestones by Goodheart-Willcox. G-W's start in automotive education put the company on the path to its current role as an industry leader in Career and Technical Education, as well as a driving force in Health Education. Today, the company continues to operate with the vision that began with William Goodheart and Charles Willcox in 1921: to provide the highest quality content at a great value and take excellent care of its customers.
"In its 'lifetime,' G-W has witnessed historic events and significant change—from the days of the Great Depression and years of war to groundbreaking medical improvements and technological advancements," said John Flanagan, President of Goodheart-Willcox. "Through it all, we have remained committed to our mission: to help students build careers and develop skills for life. Over the past 100 years, this focus has required us to adapt our instructional materials to meet the evolving needs of schools and reflect the changes in the workforce."
"As proud as we are of the educational resources that we provide, the relationships that we have built along the way are our most important achievement," Flanagan continued. From the expert authors that create our resources to the amazing teachers and students that use our materials to our trusted industry partners—without them, this 100-year anniversary would not have happened. We admire their enthusiasm, dedication, and perseverance. Each of them has truly had a hand in shaping the world."
