DURHAM, N.C., Sept. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Goodwill Community Foundation (GCF®) donated $20,000 toward disaster relief and recovery efforts for residents on the coast of North Carolina devastated by Hurricane Dorian. GCF partnered with North Carolina Baptists on Mission (NCBM) to help victims of the hurricane. This is the fourth year in a row that GCF has made monetary donations to this organization.
"Over the last several years, we've seen major storms hit the North Carolina coast. Many of the impacted communities are still getting back on their feet," said Dennis McLain, president, and CEO of Goodwill Community Foundation. "Another long recovery is ahead for coastal residents. This was an easy decision for us based on our many years in partnership helping those in need during disasters."
NC Baptists on Mission is already on the ground with large mobile feeding kitchens at locations along the coast. Recovery operations are underway and volunteers from all over the country are assisting with these relief efforts.
"We are thankful that we can partner once again with GCF during a time when many here in North Carolina need help," said Paul Langston, Missions Mobilization Consultant for the NC Baptists on Mission. "The donation money will assist our efforts in Ocracoke, Hatteras, and Atlantic on the NC Outer Banks. We're providing showers, recovery teams and up to 3,000 hot meals per day, so this generous donation will help us in serving individuals and families that have been greatly affected by this storm."
This donation demonstrates GCF's mission to "Create Opportunities for a Better Life" for those in need of food, shelter and disaster relief over the time it will take for families and communities to recover. All the funds from the donation will go directly toward disaster relief and recovery efforts.
