Government Shutdown Small Worry For Adult Industry
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Like other consumer "vices", such as alcohol or cigarettes, naughty adult content is generally one of the last things people who are stressed or struggling financially seem to leave out of their budgets.
It would appear some industries are a safer investment than others - and adult is one of these.
"Who knows how many government-funded workers are consumers to our industry? Or how that sudden cut-off of revenue will trickle down the line to our industry," said Mark Prince, founder and president of 2much.net whose LiveCamNetwork webcam solution serves as platform for dozens adult video chat & webcam sites.
"None of our business customers have noticed an effect yet either," said Prince. "And while these may be as far away as the UK, much of their market is in North America."
While still in its early stages, the shutdown had apparently caused little panic in markets or supply lines which support the economy.
"I actually had a small spike in subscriptions at my site," said model and webmaster Brookelynne Briar, who operates BrookelynneBriar.com.
While the shutdown wasn't an immediate worry for the adult industry, the rapidly encroaching deadline to raise the debt ceiling had even Canadian companies on edge.
"When the Republicans are in the White House or dominate congress, business is good," said Briar. "But to have this enormous, partial collapse would apparently have been worse than the bank and credit bubble in 2008.
"We've never been in a situation that bad so who knows? But I think we as an industry would have survived better than many others."
Not raising the debt ceiling would have had a much different effect on the adult industry, according to Prince.
“I’m no expert,” said Prince. "But it seems those who know about these things all said it would have been as bad as or worse than the 2008 meltdown, turning things sour for everyone in the business, consumer and producer side, as we saw when all the banks and insurance companies had to be bailed out or go belly up."
At the time, adult businesses had no choice but to consolidate or let themselves be swallowed up by the biggest players in the business.
"But we survived," said Prince, referring to the industry as a whole as much as his own company.”

About 2much.net:
2much.net provides a complete single-website live webcam chat solution that features complete model and accounting management as well as intricate statistical and reporting functions essential to the operation of commercial live video chat site.
One of its major innovations is the MBase chat host sharing feature, wherein customers operating the LiveCamNetwork software can share out their chat hosts to other customers, as well as select chat hosts from those others who are suitable to their niche. This allows for even new webcam chat sites to launch with ready-to-earn content.
2much Web Creations was registered as 2much.com in 1997, and then with 2much.net as 2much Internet Services in 1998. In the beginning, Mark Prince would cobble together entire webcam chat sites from different service providers, having to deal independently with each company's support department whenever problems cropped up. Frustrated, he decided to create a software package that included each of these services, hosted on his company's own servers - allowing him and his initially meagre technical staff to deal with support issues efficiently and expeditiously.
Over the years and with his experience of client needs and wants, the Software as a Service (SaaS) known as "LiveCamNetwork" evolved to include every element necessary to the operation of a live video chat service, without the need for months of research and development.
